Equipment for a guided stay

To organise your hiking stay and to discover the Mont Mezenc in good conditions, find here the equipment that we advice you que nous vous conseillons in any season. The following list is not exhaustive but propose you the main things to take. If you have any questions, call us !

Equipment for a winter stay

Non exhaustive list :

It must be anticipated that in mountain the weather can change quickly. Plan a warm clothing and a light clothing as well as a clothing for the rain. Think also about an outfit for the evening.

ESSENTIAL :

  • Warm clothes,
  • comfortable trousers but not too thick (or tights + over-trousers),
  • polar jacket,
  • mountain jacket (waterproof windbreaker),
  • rain cape,
  • cap or hood (take two in case of bad weather),
  • war gloves and/or mitts (be prepared for bad weather),
  • scarf,
  • warm socks,
  • leggings (useful in deep snow),
  • a pair of over-ankle hiking boots for snowshoeing (mandatory – NOT “snow boots” or low-sided shoes)
  • possibly telescopic hiking poles
  • Sunglasses or snow goggles (very usefull if it snows and if you have eyeglasses),
  • sun cream,
  • a rucksack (30 to 40-litre capacity),
  • a flask of at least 1.5 litres (possibly a vacuum one),
  • personal first aid kit* (double thickness sticking plasters for blisters, disinfectant, dressings, etc.),
  • a survival blanket (it’s light, small, cheap but it can be very usefull).

USEFULL :

  • a change of clothes for the evening,
  • a swimming costume/trunks and a towel for the hotel pool,
  • needle and thread (just in case),
  • camera,
  • binoculars…

* Many products or drugs are only available on prescription (Doliprane, Bétadine, etc.). Your guide will therefore not be able to give you them, unless so instructed by the SAMU (ambulance and emergency service) in an emergency. So you are advised to bring your own.

Equipment for a summer stay

It must be anticipated that in mountain the weather can change quickly, both in winter and in summer. Plan a warm clothing and a light clothing as well as a clothing for the rain. Think also about an outfit for the evening.

ESSENTIAL :

  • Trousers suitable for trekking, shorts or Bermuda shorts,
  • mountain jacket (waterproof windbreaker),
  • rain cape,
  • T-shirts,
  • warm pullover or fleece,
  • cap or hat (to prevent sunstroke),
  • gloves and cap (in case of bad weather),
  • rambler’s socks (several pairs),
  • leggings (in case it rains),
  • a pair of over-ankle or ankle-length hiking boots (firm ankle support is important)
  • possibly sandals if we cross a river,
  • Sunglasses,
  • sun cream,
  • a rucksack (20 to 30-litre capacity),
  • possibly telescopic hiking poles,
  • a flask of at least 1.5 litres (above all for the day when you take the picnic with you),
  • personal first aid kit* (double thickness sticking plasters for blisters, disinfectant, dressings, etc.),
  • a survival blanket (it’s light, small, cheap but it can be very usefull),

  • swimming costume/trunks and a towel for the hotel’s swimming pool,
  • needle and thread (just in case),
